Comprehensive Twisted Pair Cable Testing

Copper twisted pair cabling carries the vast majority of horizontal network traffic in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. From basic Category 5e installations supporting Gigabit Ethernet to high-performance Category 8 deployments enabling 25 and 40 Gigabit transmission, copper infrastructure requires proper certification.

Our copper cable certification services verify that every installed cable run meets the performance requirements defined in TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 standards. We provide documentation required for manufacturer warranty registration.

Category 8 / 2000 MHz Capability

Copper Cable Categories We Certify

Category 5e (Cat5e)

100 MHz bandwidth supporting Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T). Full TIA-568.2-D testing including wiremap, length, insertion loss, NEXT, PSNEXT, ELFEXT, return loss, and propagation delay.

Category 6 (Cat6)

250 MHz bandwidth with improved crosstalk performance. Fully supports 1000BASE-T with additional headroom and can support 10GBASE-T over limited distances.

Category 6A (Cat6A)

500 MHz bandwidth supporting 10GBASE-T over 100 meters. Includes alien crosstalk measurements verifying cables don't interfere with adjacent cables.

Category 8 (Cat8)

2000 MHz bandwidth supporting 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T over 30 meters. Designed for data center switch-to-server connections with tight crosstalk limits.

Coaxial Cable

RG6 and RG59 coaxial certification for broadcast video distribution, CATV systems, and security camera infrastructure.

Shielded (STP/F-UTP)

Shielded twisted pair verification including shield termination and continuity testing. Essential for Cat6A and Cat8 installations.

What We Measure

  • Wiremap: Pin-to-pin continuity, shorts, opens, reversed pairs, crossed pairs, split pairs
  • Length: TDR-based electrical length measurement against 100m channel / 90m permanent link limits
  • Insertion Loss: Signal attenuation across full frequency range
  • Return Loss: Impedance mismatch detection at connectors and cable joints
  • NEXT/PSNEXT: Near-end crosstalk between all pair combinations
  • FEXT/ELFEXT: Far-end crosstalk normalized to insertion loss
  • Alien Crosstalk: ANEXT and AFEXT for Cat6A and Cat8
  • Propagation Delay: Signal travel time and delay skew between pairs
  • DC Resistance: PoE power delivery validation for 802.3bt applications
